Fire in Rafina, Pikermi, and Spata: Girl’s Urgent Plea for Missing Dog Jack

in

A young woman from Vounopoula is urgently appealing for help to locate her missing dog Jack after a massive wildfire swept through the areas of Rafina, Pikermi, and Spata. The fire, which caused widespread destruction, is now under control, but firefighting units remain on high alert for possible flare-ups.

Flames engulfed large tracts of land and homes, prompting evacuation alerts via the 112 emergency service and leading to road closures as well as the shutdown of Rafina’s port. Joanna Aslanis, who resides in Vounopoula, witnessed the flames reach right outside her home, damaging storage units though sparing the main house—while also threatening chickens kept nearby.

She was informed that volunteers had removed her dog Jack to safety during the chaos, but since then, his whereabouts have been unknown. In her message to the public, she stated: ‘I’m from the fire-stricken area of Vounopoula, Kerkyras 3rd Street. This afternoon around 4 PM, they took my dog while I was trying to rescue another one from the fire. Please contact me at 6996951504 if you have any information.’

As communities recover and assess the damage, residents continue their desperate search for loved ones—including beloved pets—displaced by the disaster.
