Fire in Oraiokastro: Alert Message from 112 – ‘Stay Prepared’

An alarm was raised for a wildfire that broke out on Tuesday evening (01.07.2025). The fire started around 20:00 in a forested area in Mesaios, Oraiokastro, Thessaloniki. Immediately, the fire department was alerted and forces rushed to the scene. A total of 48 firefighters were mobilized, including two groups of foot crews from the 2nd EMOODE, volunteers, 14 vehicles, five aircraft, and two helicopters. The Hellenic Fire Service activated emergency protocols as flames spread through the forested region. A message from the 112 service was sent to residents advising them to stay prepared in case the fire expands. ‘Forest fire in the local community of Mesaios in the Municipality of Oraiokastro. Stay prepared and follow the instructions of the authorities,’ warned the alert.
