Fire in Lamia: A firefighter was taken to the Domokos Health Center

In the fierce battle for its suppression in Panagia Domokos , the fire brigades fell. A firefighter was slightly injured and transferred to Domokos Health Center. The fire in Lamia broke out today at noon (24.08.2024) but fire brigade forces managed to contain the front. A threat to the village of Panagia no longer exists. The fire broke out on forest land and due to the strong winds it quickly took large dimensions. The fire-head was that east of the village and between the villages of Panagia and Umbria is an old abandoned camp where there were previously outdoor ammunition placed. The camp has been closed for four years but the battle of firefighters from the ground and air kept the flames away at a distance of about 1 km. In the area they pitched 5 aircraft and 1 helicopter while continuing their difficult work the 2 PZL from Lamia Airport. At the spot are 38 firefighters with 13 vehicles and a group of hikers from the 4th EMODE of Lamia, while earthworks and hydrophores have been mobilised from both the Municipality of Domokos and the Region of Central Greece. Residents of the tractor area try to create from the north and east side of the village an anti-fire zone and thus protect any movement of the fire.
