According to information, there is an increased readiness of the fire brigade, in order to deal immediately with any other resurgences that may occur.
In the meantime, after a decision signed by the Secretary-General of Civil Protection, Vassilis Papageorgiou, the municipalities of Olympia, Foloi, Oleni, and Pyrgos, the regional unit of Ilia, which were affected by the fires, were declared in a state of emergency.
As announced by the Region of Western Greece, “the declaration of a state of emergency of civil protection proposed by the Region, following a relevant request of the Municipalities of Ancient Olympia and Pyrgos.
