The situation has improved regarding the wildfire in Chios, which had scorched at least 62,000 acres of land. As of today, Wednesday (June 25, 2025), it appears that the fire has been contained to Mount Trachili, north of the village of Lithi. Currently, two Canadair aircraft and four firefighting helicopters have been working since early morning to combat the blaze in a remote area of Chios. Additionally, a helicopter is addressing a flare-up near Panagia Arvanitissa, west of the village of Karies. According to ERT, there are no active fronts in other areas. The smoldering remnants were successfully handled, including two flare-ups in the Anhydros Agiou Georgiou Sykousis region and near Lithi towards Vessa. The fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon at Kontylopou was also successfully controlled. Firefighting teams remain on standby for any potential flare-ups, with reinforcements arriving from various municipalities.
