Two men injured in a fire at an auto parts business in Aspropyrgos, west of Athens, are in critical condition at the KAT General Hospital. The blaze broke out early Thursday morning (July 9, 2026).

Severe Burns Require Intensive Care

The patients — a 41-year-old and a 54-year-old — have sustained extensive full-thickness burns across nearly their entire bodies. Both are being treated in KAT’s Burn Unit, and their conditions are described as extremely critical.

According to hospital sources, the 41-year-old suffered burns covering 75% of his total body surface area, with suspected inhalation injury. He underwent emergency surgery and is expected to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The 54-year-old has burns affecting 90% of his body surface and has already been admitted to the ICU.

In total, 11 people were injured in the incident and taken to various hospitals for treatment.
