A wildfire broke out early Saturday morning (27 June 2026) in low vegetation at the ‘Paralia Pelasgias’ area near Stylida, a coastal town in central Greece’s Phthiotis region. Strong winds are currently blowing across the area, hampering firefighting efforts.
Location and Risk Assessment
The fire ignited in low-lying vegetation within agricultural land — away from residential areas and critical infrastructure — reducing immediate risk to lives and property.
Emergency Response Underway
In response, authorities deployed 30 firefighters, a 4th EMODe (Special Disaster Response Unit) ground team, and 10 fire engines. Two fixed-wing aircraft and one helicopter are actively engaged in aerial operations. Municipal water tankers are also assisting on the ground.
Investigation Launched
The Phthiotis Arson Investigation Team is en route to the site to determine the cause of the fire.
