A wildfire broke out in a forested area at the location of Avgó, near Grevena, on Thursday afternoon (25 June 2026). The Hellenic Fire Service responded immediately.
Fifteen firefighters are currently operating at the site, supported by a foot patrol unit from the 8th Emergency Response and Disaster Management Unit (EMODE), along with three fire engines.
The fire service’s helicopter — which recently made an emergency landing on Lake Aoos in Metsovo, with both pilot and co-pilot unharmed — is also expected to join the operation.
