A fire erupted around midday on Friday (23.05.2025) near Aulon. The ongoing blaze occurred in a low-lying area at the 56 km mark of the Athens-Thessaloniki National Highway. To extinguish the flames, 36 firefighters are working tirelessly with one ground team from the 4th Firefighting Department, supported by 10 vehicles. Additionally, aerial support includes one aircraft and one helicopter. Strong winds have exacerbated the situation, causing wildfires to break out in Markopoulo and Koropi, though the latter has been brought under full control.
