A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon (May 24, 2025) in a Roma settlement located in Heraklion, Crete. The Heraklion Fire Service was immediately alerted about the blaze occurring in the Roma settlement behind the Closed Gymnasium of Nea Alikarnassos. Due to the strong winds, the firefighters were quickly mobilized. Seven fire vehicles with 17 personnel rushed to the scene and managed to prevent the worst-case scenario, according to creta24.gr. Black smoke covered even the Industrial Area of Heraklion. It is worth noting that a similar fire had occurred in almost the same location on Thursday afternoon, May 22.
