A new wildfire broke out on Saturday afternoon, 27 June 2026, in the Boeotia region of central Greece — this time near Petra, a village in the Aliartos area. Authorities issued an urgent evacuation advisory for local residents, urging them to move toward Livadia.
According to initial reports, the fire is burning through agricultural and forested land. The blaze is classified as difficult to control, with winds reaching up to 7 on the Beaufort scale severely hampering firefighting efforts.
The Greek emergency number 112 issued a public alert: “Forest fire in the #Petra area of the #Boeotia regional unit. If you are in the area, evacuate immediately toward #Livadia. Follow official instructions.”
The Hellenic Fire Service reported that 26 firefighters are on site, supported by one ground intervention team from the 4th Regional Forest Protection Unit (EMODE), nine vehicles, three aircraft, and one helicopter. Additional support includes municipal water tankers and heavy machinery deployed by local authorities.
