Fire Breaks Out in Monemvasia: Residents on Standby

A wildfire erupted in the agricultural area of Karavostasi in the municipality of Monemvasia at noon on Monday (June 25). To extinguish the fire in Laconia, 44 firefighters were mobilized along with three teams of ground troops from the 9th Forest Fire Brigade and 10 vehicles. Four airplanes and one helicopter are conducting water drops to combat the blaze. Assistance was also provided by water carriers from the Civil Protection service. The efforts to control the fire involved close coordination between all units. At 14:35, the emergency alert 112 sounded on residents’ mobile phones warning them to remain on standby. Authorities urged the public to follow their instructions as the situation developed.
