On the early hours of Friday (06.06.2025), a fire broke out in an open area filled with waste on the island of Kastelorizo, mobilizing firefighting forces. Water-carrying helicopters and water bombers are currently working to contain the blaze. Additionally, 16 firefighters, accompanied by a foot patrol team from the 11th Emergency Response Unit and two vehicles, are being transported from Rhodes via coastal routes. A work machine from the Civil Protection Service is also assisting at the scene. This coordinated effort aims to quickly control and extinguish the fire that threatens the environment of this picturesque Greek island.
