A wildfire broke out this afternoon (5 July 2026) in low vegetation near Drosia, a village in the Chalkida municipality on the island of Evia. The cause remains unclear. Emergency Response Mobilized
A total of 40 firefighters, nine vehicles, two ground intervention teams — one from the 4th and another from the 20th Regional Fire Service Units — four aircraft, and two helicopters have been mobilized to tackle the blaze.
The Greek Fire Service confirmed the deployment in a social media update, noting heavy smoke visible from a distance and expressing concern among local residents. Firefighters remain engaged in an intense effort to gain full control of the fire as quickly as possible.
