A fire erupted at noon on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in a forested area of the Choristi region in Drama. The flames quickly spread, prompting an immediate response from firefighting forces. A total of 42 firefighters, supported by two infantry teams from the 7th EMODE, 13 vehicles, eight aircraft, and one helicopter were deployed to combat the blaze. Assistance was also provided by water-carrying Hellenic Armed Forces units and machinery. There is currently no information indicating whether nearby residential areas are under threat.
