Fire Breaks Out in Chios – Evacuation Message Issued to Residents

A wildfire erupted on Sunday afternoon (June 22, 2025) in the forested area of Kofinas in Chios. Due to the ongoing fire, an evacuation message has been issued by the 112 emergency service advising residents to move towards the city center. To combat the blaze, 20 firefighters, including a team from the 13th Forest Firefighting Unit, six vehicles, and two helicopters have been deployed. The authorities urge anyone in the vicinity to evacuate toward the city center immediately.
