A fire broke out on Monday afternoon (22/06/2026) at the Tembloni landfill site in Kerkyra, western Greece.
Emergency Response Underway
According to official reports, 15 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze. Their operation includes one ground crew and four fire engines.
Location and Context
The fire originated in an area housing construction machinery — outside the main landfill facility itself. Authorities confirmed it did not start within the active waste disposal zones of the site.
This incident echoes a similar fire last year at the same location, which occurred around this time and involved the bulky waste storage area inside the landfill. That earlier blaze prompted a significant emergency response from local authorities.
