A fire broke out after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in a ground-floor restroom at Thriassio General Hospital in Elefsina, West Attica. The hospital is a major public healthcare facility serving the western Athens metropolitan area.
Fifteen firefighters and five fire engines were dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control. As a precautionary measure, non-patient personnel and visitors on the ground floor were evacuated. Patients remained in place and were not relocated.
An investigative team from the West Attica Arson Unit has been deployed to determine the cause of the fire.
