A fire broke out Friday evening (10 July 2026) in Omorphochori, a village in the municipality of Kileler, near Larissa in central Greece’s Thessaly region. The blaze erupted in an outdoor area of a recycling facility.
No Immediate Threat to Homes
According to initial reports, residential properties are not currently under threat. Emergency response efforts involve 29 firefighters operating 12 vehicles, supported by municipal water tankers and heavy machinery deployed by local authorities.

The Larissa Arson Investigation Unit has been dispatched to the site to determine the cause of the fire.

Just before 11 p.m., mobile alerts were sent to local residents advising them to remain indoors, close all doors and windows, and avoid unnecessary travel in the wider area. Authorities urge residents to closely follow instructions from Civil Protection until the risk posed by dense smoke subsides.
