Fiona and Marilena Simitis: The former prime minister’s two daughters at their father’s funeral

In the Metropolis of Athens, Daphne Simitis and her two daughters, Fionia and Marilena were found early on Thursday (09.01.2025) to say good-bye to their husband and father, who were buried in public expenditure and with honours as acting prime minister. All the time, Marilena and Fiona stood by their mother, Daphne Simitis, at the last goodbye to PASOK co-founder and former Prime Minister, Costas Simitis, who “left” at the age of 88 years of life. CORVERSE Costas Simitis met in England his wife, Daphne Simitis, the genus Arcadia, with whom he had two daughters, Fiona and Marilena. The painter Fiona Musakitis – Simitis and the academic, Marilena Simitis, chose different paths from their father. The two daughters of Costa and Daphne Simitis were born in 1967 and 1968, respectively, and never engaged in politics, such as the former prime minister, former minister and former president of PASOK. CORVERSE 55-year-old Fiona and 54-year-old Marilena keep their personal lives away from publicity, despite their “heavy” last name and public appearances are rare. In unsuspecting time, Costas Simitis himself had reported about his daughters: “My children were critical of my own choices and that helped me a lot”. With the modesty that has always characterized the family Simitis, Daphne Simitis, Fionia and Marilena, they unproved their beloved husband and father, from the exodus sequence and procession to his burial at the First Cemetery of Athens.
