The FIFA World Cup 2026, set to take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be unlike any previous edition. The tournament will introduce several innovations, with the most significant being the expansion to 48 teams for the first time in history! However, innovation doesn’t stop there—Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, announced that the halftime show during the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will resemble those iconic performances seen at the Super Bowl. The renowned band Coldplay has been entrusted with curating the event, selecting the artists who will participate in this grand celebration. Notably, the show will last only 15 minutes, ensuring no extension to the halftime duration. In an Instagram post, Gianni Infantino expressed his excitement about discussing exciting plans for the largest FIFA World Cup in 2026 at the ‘FIFA World Cup 26: FIFA Commercial & Media Partners Convention’ in Dallas. He confirmed that the first-ever halftime show in a World Cup final will occur in New York, in collaboration with Global Citizen. This marks a historic moment for the World Cup, offering a spectacle worthy of the world’s greatest sporting event. Discussions also included taking over Times Square during the final weekend of the FIFA World Cup 2026, both for the preliminary and main finals. These matches will feature some of the best players globally, making Times Square the perfect venue for celebration. Thanks go to Hugh Evans and his team from Global Citizen, as well as Chris Martin and Phil Harvey from Coldplay, who will collaborate closely with FIFA to finalize the list of artists performing at halftime and in Times Square.
