Brutal Attack Outside Her Home
According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect had been lying in wait outside the woman’s residence in Nea Smyrni. When she arrived, he intercepted her at the building’s entrance, forced her to kneel, and opened fire with a handgun. Moments after killing her, he took his own life.
Fear, Surveillance, and Failed Protections
The victim’s brother spoke to Live News on Monday, 24 August, revealing disturbing details about escalating abuse in the weeks leading up to the tragedy. He said his sister had grown increasingly terrified of her partner — so much so that she recently moved apartments and changed the locks. The reason? Her ex-partner still held a spare key and would enter her home while she was at work.
“She’d even taken out a restraining order,” he said. “I told her to go to the police. I think she did — but I don’t know for sure. I urged her to file formal protective measures — but now… I don’t know what comes next. I’ve lost everything.”
He described how she noticed items rearranged inside her home after returning from work or errands — clear signs he’d been inside. She repeatedly asked him to send a new lock. After the change, she confided in him and friends that she felt constantly watched: “I can’t talk to my friends, I can’t even speak freely with you — I’m trapped. Someone is listening.”
A Troubled Past Abroad
Albanian media reports indicate the 48-year-old was arrested in Tirana in 2016 — at age 35 — for stalking and sexually harassing his then-wife. He faced charges under Article 121/A of Albania’s Penal Code, which criminalizes ‘stalking’ or ‘harassment’. At the time, he was married and father to one child.
Greek authorities are now examining this history as part of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crime — particularly whether prior red flags were missed or inadequately addressed by institutions.

The victim’s family remains devastated, struggling to process the loss and seeking clarity amid fragmented information. Her brother emphasized that despite her efforts — moving, changing locks, seeking legal recourse — systemic safeguards failed to protect her.
