“My child was vindicated,” said the father of Faye Bakogiorgou to newsit.gr following the court’s decision to convict her mother, sister, and landlady for her murder. Nikolaos Bakogiorgou expressed relief after hearing the verdict from the Mixed Jury Court of Athens regarding the brutal killing of his daughter in Kypseli. Since the day Faye was found dead, he tirelessly fought for justice. “My child was vindicated, and so was I. This chapter has now closed, and I hope my daughter’s soul can rest peacefully where she is high in heaven. I had faith in justice, and it truly delivered what needed to be done. I feel vindicated,” stated the grieving father. Faye’s body was discovered by passersby on a pedestrian walkway on October 8, 2021, wrapped in a blanket. The three women were sent to trial following an indictment by the Council of Appeals. Judges detailed the beatings endured by the mother of the three children, who was forced into prostitution for financial gain that went to the landlady. According to the indictment, Faye was murdered inside the Kypseli home rented from the 57-year-old landlady, with both the mother and sister allegedly aware of the situation. Now, Nikolaos Bakogiorgou tells newsit.gr, “I don’t feel anything anymore, and there is no other child for me. I have nothing left finally.” For nearly a year, the father turned detective to uncover his daughter’s killer, aiding investigations that revealed the apartment on Drosopoulou Street in Kypseli, where Faye suffered systematic abuse. Ultimately, the landlady received a life sentence plus 22 years and a fine of €7,000. Faye’s mother was sentenced to 15 years, while her sister received an 11-year sentence, with consideration given for her juvenile age.
