A father accuses police brutality after his 20-year-old son was arrested following a chase in Kifisia. The young motorcyclist reportedly did not stop at a DIAS team signal. According to the family’s complaint, the young driver ended up in intensive care due to injuries allegedly inflicted by a police officer. As reported by Star, the father of the young EKAB rescuer claims he could barely recognize his child due to the swelling on his face from alleged police beatings. ‘Before my son could get up, an officer approached him and said, “Why didn’t you stop, you…” My son replied, “I was scared, sorry.” But instead of calming down, the officer began punching him repeatedly in the face while holding a baton,’ the father recounted. The young rescuer suffered cranial injuries and spent two days in intensive care after being beaten by the police, according to the father’s statement. ‘The officer was wearing handcuffs and continued beating him even when his friend pleaded for him to stop. He said, “Rescuers or thieves, you will get more,” and continued the assault.’ The family has already taken legal action, with results from the forensic examination pending. The father emphasized that his actions aim to prevent such incidents from happening again. Meanwhile, the police have launched an Enorki Diioikiti Exetasi (Official Administrative Investigation) into the allegations against the officers involved.
