A local community in Kallithea remains in shock following a violent clash between groups of minors that ended in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy. According to the forensic autopsy report, the fatal wound was located just below the heart — a single stab, directed upward from below, proved instantly lethal.

Violent Clash on Megaloupoleos Street

The incident occurred late on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, on Megaloupoleos Street in Kallithea, outside a residential apartment building. Witnesses described how a group of eight teenagers — led by a 17-year-old — began exchanging verbal insults with a smaller group of three. Tensions escalated rapidly, prompting the trio to call for reinforcements. Shortly after, a black car arrived at the scene, from which the 15-year-old victim and four others emerged.

What followed was a chaotic physical confrontation involving kicks, punches, and at least one knife. According to initial reports, the 17-year-old suspect claimed he drew his own knife out of fear that the 15-year-old would strike first. After the altercation, he allegedly discarded the weapon into a nearby trash bin.

Forensic Findings and Ongoing Investigation

The forensic examination confirmed a single penetrating wound beneath the heart, with an upward trajectory. Notably, no defensive injuries or signs of struggle were found on the victim’s hands — raising questions about the circumstances of the attack.

Police recovered a knife at the scene, but the 17-year-old suspect stated it was not the weapon used in the killing — and that he had thrown his own knife away after the fight. Authorities have yet to locate the actual murder weapon. A second knife discovered nearby is also under forensic review.

Investigators are now exploring whether the killing may have been an act of retaliation. They have collected surveillance footage and witness statements, and are seeking at least ten additional individuals believed to have taken part in the brawl.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

Seven members of the larger group have already been arrested and appeared before the Juvenile Prosecutor on Friday. They face serious criminal charges, including grievous bodily harm and involvement in a fatal assault.

Victim’s Background

The 15-year-old victim was identified through fingerprint records — he had prior police contact. Approximately two weeks before his death, he was arrested while riding in a car containing a folding knife; the driver was a 19-year-old. Earlier, he had been detained twice for weapons-related offences — once for carrying a knife, and another time for assaulting a 16-year-old in Kifissia.

According to reporting by Live News, in February 2023, the teenager was involved in a large-group assault outside the Kifissia Forest, where he physically attacked a peer. The complainant at the time described the incident as unprovoked and severe.
