A fatal road accident occurred just after midnight in the Varympompi area, on the lane heading toward Lamia along the old National Road’s parallel street, Gymnastiriou Street. One person died in the incident.
According to initial reports, the driver was traveling through the area when, likely due to a fork in the road, lost orientation and control of the vehicle—striking a wall. The car then veered off course and caught fire.
The driver was pulled from the wreckage unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to remove the vehicle, which was reduced to an unrecognizable mass of twisted metal.
At this time, the victim’s identity and age remain unknown. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
