According to the Police, arrests were made on Thursday (16.01.25) during a police operation of the Property Crimes Department in Upper Liosia. As it emerged from the investigation, the members of the organization, since at least March 2024, recommended a structured and ongoing criminal organization, for the purpose of committing distinguished thefts and robberies in homes, having as exclusive areas of activity Korydallos, Haidari, Nea Makri, Varnava, Oropos, Dionysos, Anavyssos, Kalyvia, Rafina, Porto Rafti, Keratea, Magoula and Elefsina. To achieve their purpose they acted with distinct roles (car rental, supervision, burglary, surveillance, driver, etc.), carefully selecting their goals in areas consisting mainly of cottages and offering easy transition and quick escape. Members of the criminal organization committed burglaries mainly in the middle of the afternoon or evening hours, without excluding them in the morning hours, as long as they were sure the tenants were absent. Photo source / Hellenic Police Disable alarm systems, drug pets For their movements they used mainly leased vehicles, while not being perceived they disabled alarm and surveillance systems, while making sure to take protective measures that would not reveal their identity. In fact, according to the police, they continued their activity even when they were perceived by residents, while sedating pets, in order to avoid making noise and being perceived. At the same time, during the day, they watched the houses where they would “beat”, while when they were perceived by surrounding people they pretended to be gardeners. The defendants, according to the police, threatened their victims with a knife in case they came face to face with them. The members of the organization were unworked and invested part of their revenue from criminal activities in the acquisition of assets, seeking their legalisation, but also more generally strengthening the organisation’s infrastructure and performance as through the purchase of large SUV-type vehicles, which they used as operating vehicles. Photo source / Greek Police From the investigations carried out, among other things, they were found and seized: – a number of jewelry, jewelry, medallions and accessories, – 17 branded handheld watches, – a number of foreign banknotes and electronic devices, – a number of license plates, – a number of burglary tools, – a number of SIM cards of various companies and connection packages, – 2 deposit booklets and receipts, – 4 vehicles (-3- which led to members of the organization, as obtained from proceeds of their criminal activity and one as an operational vehicle of the organisation), – plastic replica type pistol, – 49 cartridges and 5 shotgun cartridges, – a total length of twenty centimetres, – TV, – 16 mobile phones, – car keys, – clothes and footwear that wore during the execution of the thefts, – personalised documents, – a security guard closure device – the cash amount of – 550-euro. The defendants have repeatedly engaged in similar offences in the past, and have been convicted many times and have been subject to restrictive measures. The arrestees, with the case-file formed against them, were taken to the competent prosecutor.
