The Central Committee approved with a strong majority the candidacies of Stergios Kalpakis for Secretary and Anastasia Sapouna for Deputy Secretary, noted party President Sokratis Famellou after the first session of the new Central Committee on Saturday evening (05.07.2025) via a Facebook post, where he also wished them success.
In his post, Famellou, following the official “first” meeting of the new SYRIZA-PS Central Committee, emphasized that the party must connect with local communities, movements, unions, and self-government bodies.
“We will all do our best to meet the demands of the new SYRIZA-PS,” Famellou wrote. “Our Secretaries will travel across the country to convey the decisions of our Congress everywhere. The SYRIZA-PS must ground itself in local societies, movements, unions, and self-government. It must expand, strengthen, and grow. It must attract new members but also reconnect with old ones and friends. We must fight alongside all Greeks to save society from the dystopia of the right, the government of injustice, collusion, and corruption, so that a progressive government can bring about the country’s renaissance.”
He added, “And this goal has as its necessary and sufficient condition a large and strong SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance.”
Earlier on Saturday, the new Central Committee approved with a strong majority the nominations of Stergios Kalpakis as Secretary and Anastasia Sapouna as Deputy Secretary.
