Famellos: ‘The Reforms and Possible Concessions Cannot Change the Government’s Decline’

In his address during today’s meeting of the Political Secretariat of the party, the president of SYRIZA-PS expressed the view that “any potential reforms and possible concessions cannot alter the government’s decline.” Socrates Famellos emphasized that “the massive mobilizations of citizens for Democracy and Justice highlight the crisis of trust and confidence in the government. The perception of a cover-up regarding the Tempi scandal is deeply ingrained, as is the belief that under the current government there will be neither Transparency, nor Justice, nor security.” Famellos noted as an “achievement” the successful democratic collaboration among four parties to draft a joint motion of no confidence last week. He highlighted the need for radical programmatic frameworks and proposals, such as those submitted by SYRIZA in Parliament on Friday, to achieve political change. Furthermore, he announced the reorganization of the Nicos Poulantzas Institute with new administrative and scientific councils, aiming to contribute to political innovation and progressive thought.
