Handcuffs were placed on a Syrian and a Palestinian man by police in Thessaloniki as they are accused of taking €3,000 from a Romanian couple to provide them with fake European citizenship documents through a sham marriage. The couple, after paying the two men and proceeding with the fake marriage, received the desired documents but later discovered they were counterfeit. However, the incredible case doesn’t end there. Subsequently, the couple was held against their will inside an apartment in Thessaloniki, leading to additional charges of kidnapping against the two men. The men have been referred to Justice, and during a search at their residence in Ampelokipoi, Thessaloniki, a knife and a screwdriver were seized. Meanwhile, the police are conducting a separate investigation into the two Romanians, aged 33 and 20, concerning their involvement in obtaining fake documents via the sham marriage.
