The move moves at levels in air traffic, according to the Civil Aviation Service (USA). In particular, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, the Hellenic Air Traffic Control of the Hellenic Republic served 4,944 flights to the F.I. R Athens (arrives, departures and aircraft overruns), a number that is a new record of all time in air traffic. For example, the EUROCONTROL Higher Area Control Centre in Maastricht, which controls one of the busiest airspaces in central Europe and four F.I. R (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and part of Germany), records in 2024 an average daily traffic of around 4,800 flights. At Heraklion Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” the tourist service rise records are continuous, as on Sunday, July 21, 2024 the state airport of Crete recorded a record of all times with the management of 62,778 passengers within a 24-hour period. As the COA commander, George Saunatsos, notes, “stars in support of the rise recorded by air indicators are the spirit of the Service. The availability of air navigation systems throughout the summer period is significantly improved compared to the previous year. At the same time, the ambitious programme of modernisation of air navigation systems is under way, and the strengthening of human resources with an emphasis on air traffic and electronic/ATSEP ratings, in order to cope with the operational and technological challenges of the coming years.” Source: RES-AE
