Explosions in Tehran Amid New Israeli Attack – Trump and Netanyahu Phone Call

in

Explosions were heard today (June 24, 2025) in northern Tehran, despite U.S. President Donald Trump urging his air forces not to carry out new strikes against Iran. The Axios news agency reported that Trump contacted Benjamin Netanyahu by phone, trying to persuade him to delay any planned attacks on Iran. However, the Israeli Prime Minister replied that he could not cancel the new aerial assaults against Iran, citing reasons related to recent events. Israeli officials mentioned there might be a ‘symbolic’ strike. It appears the symbolic Israeli attack became reality as Israeli media outlets confirmed that Israeli air forces targeted radar systems in Tehran shortly after 2:40 PM (Greek time). Earlier, Israel’s Defense Minister ordered airstrikes on Tehran following Iranian missile provocations just before the ceasefire was set to take effect. Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated they had launched 14 missiles toward Israel moments before the ceasefire began. Previously, Trump posted on Truth Social: “Israel, do not drop these bombs. If you do, it will be a serious violation. Turn your pilots back now! Peace must be achieved in the Middle East.” He reiterated that Israel would not attack Iran, all aircraft would change course and return home, and a ‘friendly gesture’ would be extended toward Iran during the ceasefire period.
