Alarm spread early in the morning after an explosion struck a car rental company on Acharnon Avenue in Athens. The blast caused material damage and left a small crater at the site.
According to initial reports, police officers who arrived at the scene discovered a slow-burning fuse. They also found explosive material inside a bag — a finding that strengthens the possibility of a targeted attack.
The Hellenic Police’s specialized unit responsible for investigating extortion cases is leading the preliminary inquiry. Authorities are collecting forensic evidence from the site and reviewing footage from nearby security cameras in an effort to identify those responsible.
