Greece’s Ministry of Environment and Energy has extended the final deadline for completing all Exoikonomo (‘I Save Energy’) programmes implemented under the Recovery and Resilience Fund. The new cut-off date is Friday, July 17, 2026 — marking the definitive end for all interventions aimed at supporting households and businesses through energy efficiency upgrades.

Which programmes are included?

The extension applies to the following initiatives:

  • Exoikonomo 2021
  • Exoikonomo 2023
  • Exoikonomo – Renovate for Young People
  • Exoikonomo 2025
  • Exoikonomo – Business Upgrade & Device Replacement

Key details

The Exoikonomo schemes are a cornerstone of Greece’s strategy to reduce energy costs for households and enterprises, modernise the country’s building stock, and improve overall energy performance. As the Recovery and Resilience Fund concludes its operational phase, this revised deadline is final — no further extensions will be granted.

Notably, repayment terms for funded energy efficiency services can — by explicit, individual agreement — be settled via the electricity bill linked to the upgraded installation. This option was confirmed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The Ministry urges all beneficiaries to act promptly and complete their projects within the new timeframe to ensure full access to support. The programmes are part of Greece’s national Recovery and Resilience Plan, Greece 2.0, co-financed by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU initiative.
