Evia Hit by Severe Storm: Roads Flooded, Tree Uprooted

A severe storm has caused widespread damage across Evia, turning roads and sidewalks into rivers. On the coastal road near Aliveri—from Karavo to Rifi—the sea inundated the roadway near the former water park due to powerful winds and high waves. Drivers are urged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes. At Almyropotamos beach, strong waves swept debris, branches, and trash onto the road, with seawater reaching the sidewalk—posing serious hazards for drivers and pedestrians. In Dirfyon-Messapiwn municipality, a tree was uprooted and fell onto a main road; Mayor Antonis Spyropoulos and municipal crews responded immediately to clear it and restore traffic. A red weather alert was issued for early morning hours, followed by an orange alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms expected from late afternoon into the night.
