In a highly charged emotional climate, the presence of local authorities and… crowds, took place on Wednesday 20 July 2016 in the square of the national martyr Aimilianos, in the city of Grevena, the unveiling of the monument to the ΓÏεβενιώτες warriors of ELDYK who fell in defence of Cyprus against the barbaric invasion of 1974, (Attila I and II)
The event was organized by the Municipality of Grevena, in collaboration with the warriors of ELDYK 1974 of the Prefecture of Grevena.
The event was presided over by his Eminence Metropolitan mr David, while present at the event gave soldiers of ELDYK 1974 of the Prefecture of Grevena, the Mayor of Grevena, mr. George Δασταμάνης, the President of the Regional Council, mr George Κωτσίδης, the vice governor, mr Vangelis ΣημανδÏάκος, the Mayor of Deskati, mr. Dimitris ΚαÏαστÎÏγιος, Deputy chief mr. Christos ΖαμποÏÏας, the deputy Mayor of Education and Culture, mr. Peter and the deputy Mayor for Trade, mr Gregory Farmakis, aldermen, the President of the Municipal Community, mr. Stergios Pournaras, the President of the ΔΕΚΕΓ mr. John Michos, and representatives of bodies and associations.
It should be noted that the monument was made with the courtesy of the warriors of ELDYK 1974 of the Prefecture of Grevena.
