Intense fame has erupted in the last few hours for two new exclusions from the twelve candidates selected by it to claim the ticket to represent our country in its 69th Competition These scenarios say that in ERT they are studying to exclude Costas Ageris and Thanos Lambros, because a few minutes after the publication that he is the twelve who will participate in the Eurovision National Final, they spoke telephonely in private television shows. CORVERSE At this point, to clarify that, in the “Invitation of Interest” it is stated that “For the sake of equal promotion of finalists, the performance of performers and composers of the respective songs is prohibited in other ways than the means of the “E.R. T. S.A. from the announcement of the twelve (12) finalists to the conduct of the National Final. In any event of breach of this condition, ‘E.P. T. S.A. reserves their right to exclude them from the National Final.”, which seems to have given rise to these publications. However, the truth is completely different, as according to my valid information it was never a question of excluding the two artists for their particular short telephone appearance. Of course immediately after they were recommended , reminding them of the condition mentioned above, as was also done by ERT telephone reminders to the remaining ten contestants to avoid similar appearances. In fact, according to my same valid information, today (11.01.2025) on the radio of Agia Paraskevi, most of the contestants of the National Final have been found to be informed of the obligations and commitments to comply with… so that they will not be excluded! CORVERSE At this point it is worth noting that the case of the two artists is justifiably not similar to Salina’s. Gavala who was eliminated for making public on television the title and creators of her song while the first phase of the selection had not been completed, when in the Terms and Conditions of Participation in the Selection Process it is stated that “the lyrics and music, including any title of the songs, should not have been released into trade and presented publicly, nor should they be made public (published or disclosed to the public) in any way and means, in whole or in part, by participants or by any third party.” With this publication, the performer may have influenced the judgment of the jury members, since in the same announcement on the Selection Process it is stressed that “The selection of up to twelve (12) songs will be based on lyrics, music and interpretation, without the Critical Committee knowing the names of the participating composers and performers of the songs. “ So there is no question of new exclusions, at least for now… unless after today’s briefing and clarifications given to the contestants, there is some violation of the conditions they have accepted to participate in the National Final to be held on January 30.
