Eurostat: By 3.1% the general price index increased in October in Greece

3.1% increased the general index in October in Greece, according to today’s (19.11.2024) data of the European Union statistical service. In particular, the inflation price in October remained unchanged over September, while Eurostat’s first estimate at 31 October was 3.2%. It is noted that inflation was at 2.4% annually in October in Greece, retreating from 2.9% of September, according to ELSTAT data. The annual inflation rate in the euro area was 2% in October 2024, from 1.7% in September, while one year earlier, the rate was 2.9%. As regards the European Union’s annual inflation, this was 2.3% in October 2024, from 2.1% in September and one year earlier, the rate was 3.6%. The lowest annual rates were recorded in Slovenia (0.0%), Lithuania and Ireland (both 0.1%), while the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (5.0%), Belgium and Estonia (both 4.5%). Compared to September 2024, annual inflation declined in two Member States, remained stable in six and increased to nineteen. In October 2024, the highest contribution to the euro area’s annual inflation rate came from the services (+1,77 percentage points, a.m.), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.56 a.m.), non-energy industrial goods (+0.13 percentage points) and energy (-0.45 a.m.).
