At a double rate compared to the average European, nominal hourly labour costs (work taxes, etc.) increased in the Greek economy in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2023, according to the statistical service of the European Union. Specifically, according to Eurostat’s current (16.9.24) communication, nominal hourly labour costs in the EU increased 5.2% and 4.7% in the euro area. During the same period, in Greece, labour costs throughout the economy increased by 9.3%, i.e. by more than twice the rate of growth in the EU and the eurozone.
