European Leaders Communicate with Trump Before Putin Call

European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merts, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, communicated with former U.S. President Donald Trump shortly before his anticipated phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The communication aimed to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. According to Trump’s own statement, the conversation with Putin was intended to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine. In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Macron mentioned that they had discussed strategies for peace with Trump, emphasizing that it is up to Putin to demonstrate his desire for peace by accepting the 30-day unconditional ceasefire proposed by Trump, which is supported by Ukraine and Europe.
