During a meeting in Athens on March 26, 2025, with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, European Commission Vice President Stéphane Séjourné emphasized the crucial role of Greece in Europe. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Séjourné expressed gratitude to Mitsotakis and highlighted the need for Greece’s leadership in clean industry, strong investments in critical raw materials, and efforts toward an efficient single market. The discussion covered enhancing the single market, boosting EU competitiveness, simplifying processes, improving the European business environment, and addressing the EU strategy for critical raw materials and green transition. Séjourné also mentioned that the European Commission has approved 47 strategic projects across 13 EU member states, including Greece, focusing on mining and processing rare earths and critical raw materials essential for energy, technology, and defense.
