Euboea: Suicide of a 59-Year-Old Man in Chalkida – Love Disappointment and Family Tragedy

A heartbreaking incident has deeply shaken the community. A 59-year-old man took his own life with a rifle, ending his life tragically. His body was found by a relative who had visited to check on him after he stopped showing signs of life, sparking concern. The man, who lived alone in the Kanithou area, had previously been hospitalized at a clinic for severe psychological issues following a past romantic disappointment. Just one month ago, his bedridden mother passed away, and three months before that, his father—who used to care for him and provide his medication despite frequent refusals—also died. A relative of the victim, who lived next door, discovered him dead and was rushed to Chalkida Hospital in shock.
