EU Leaders to Boost Defense, Support Ukraine, and Explore New Own Resources

On March 20-21, 2025, EU leaders will convene in Brussels to address key issues including European defense enhancement, continued support for Ukraine, and the exploration of new own resources. The agenda includes a €800 billion defense package with a focus on a €150 billion fund. Additionally, discussions will cover the Next Generation EU recovery fund, competitiveness, migration, and Middle East developments. The EU remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s defense and stability, having provided €135.4 billion since the war began. Leaders aim to strengthen European defense systems in collaboration with NATO, focusing on aerial defense, unmanned systems, and strategic mobility. They will also initiate talks about the next multiannual financial framework and explore sustainable funding solutions.
