The European Union has imposed new sanctions on 19 Iranian officials and entities linked to serious human rights violations, according to an announcement by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas on X (formerly Twitter).
In her post, Kallas emphasized that the EU continues to hold Iran accountable. She noted that ambassadors from EU member states approved the measures, targeting individuals and organizations responsible for repression inside the country.
A Clear Message to Tehran
Kallas also sent a direct message to Iranian authorities: “The future of Iran cannot be built on repression.” The statement underscores the EU’s stance amid ongoing domestic unrest and crackdowns in Iran.
She added that as the situation in Iran continues to deteriorate, the EU remains committed to protecting its interests and pursuing those responsible for internal repression.
