Etrusco Named Best Restaurant in Greece at Athens Gourmet Awards 2025

Last night, the prestigious Athens Gourmet Awards celebrated the finest representatives of Greek cuisine with a dazzling event dedicated to high gastronomy. Personalities from the realms of culture, business, tourism, and media gathered at Asteria Domus, the new venue by the Papatheoharis Group, to unveil the top 45 gourmet addresses in Greece. Once again, Etrusco in Corfu claimed the top spot as the best restaurant in Greece for the 13th consecutive year, receiving a rating of 17/20 and two Golden Hats. Second place went to Botrini’s Athens and Delta, both scoring 16.5/20 and earning two Golden Hats each. A total of 24 Golden Hats were awarded to restaurants across the Aegean, Ionian, and Halkidiki islands, highlighting Greece’s summer charm and culinary excellence. Santorini alone secured six Golden Hats for its establishments. Meanwhile, Athens boasts 16 Golden Hats, proving that the capital’s gastronomic scene continues to rise steadily. Surprises and changes marked this year’s list, with seven new restaurants entering the coveted rankings—two from Peloponnese and Paros—and four restaurants advancing in position. However, three establishments lost their Golden Hat due to stricter evaluation criteria introduced last year and continued this year. The rigorous policy also positively impacted the Top Notch distinctions, with 23 restaurants receiving this honor (four more than last year), including nine new entries. Manolis Stethos won the Best Chef Pâtissier award, while Ex Machina by Adam Kontovas took home the Public Award. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dinner prepared by executive chefs Karime López and Takahiko Kondo from Michelin-starred Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Florence, blending Mexican flair, Japanese aesthetics, and Italian abundance. Their collaboration with Jean-Louis Capsalas, executive chef of Asteria Domus, delivered an unforgettable dining experience.
