ERT: “Fullly unfounded” attacks on her festive New Year’s Eve program

An announcement on the festive program was issued by Friday (03.01.2025). Form, attacks against public television to exclude the live transmission of the entire New Year’s event of the Municipality of Athens. In its announcement ERT points out, among other things, that for decades, with the exception of last year, on the evening of New Year’s Eve it broadcasts its own festive program, which interrupts before midnight, to transmit in a short-minute connection to Constitution Square the change of time. DEPENDENCE ERT’s full response: “It makes an impression and raises reasonable questions about the persistence of obvious unsubstantial allegations, that the direct transmission of the entire New Year’s event of the Municipality of Athens by ERT was supposedly excluded this year. And this is because it is known that ERT, traditionally, on the night of New Year’s Eve broadcasts its own festive program, which interrupts before midnight, to transmit to a few minutes’ connection to Constitution Square the change of time. CORVERSE This practice has been observed for decades, with the exception of last year, as the hosts of the event of the Municipality of Athens were contributors from ERT, as well as in 2015, the first year of reopening ERT. Therefore, any attempt at misinterpretation, let alone political or other incentives, especially in this year’s New Year’s broadcast of ERT, is completely unfounded.
