Ergani App Launches for Short-Term Hires Up to Two Days

The Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance has launched the new Ergani app, a mobile application designed to streamline the hiring process for short-term, urgent staffing needs. Employers can now digitally declare employment contracts lasting up to two days — ideal for covering unexpected absences or temporary spikes in workload.

A Faster, Smarter Hiring Process

“We are accelerating and simplifying hiring through the new Ergani app,” said Labour and Social Insurance Minister Nikē Keramēsou. “For the first time, businesses can meet their urgent human resource needs anytime — directly from their smartphones — in just a few minutes, with less bureaucracy and greater transparency.”

The app also strengthens worker protections and ensures full digital recording of actual working hours — a key step toward fairer labour practices.

How It Works

The process is fully digital and applies when a company needs to fill an immediate gap or handle increased workloads. Through the Ergani app, employers enter essential hiring details — including job role, number of working days and hours, remuneration, and social insurance coverage.

Simultaneously, the myErgani app for employees has been upgraded. Workers receive instant notifications about new job offers, can review agreed contract terms, and digitally accept the offer if they choose to proceed.

Once the employee accepts the contract, the employer finalises the submission via the Ergani app. The central ERGANA II information system updates automatically — eliminating the need for separate declarations of employment start and end dates.

One Declaration, Three Functions

The new unified digital declaration consolidates three previously separate processes: the Announcement of Employment Commencement, the Digital Working Hours Organisation Declaration, and the Termination Notice for Fixed-Term Contracts.

According to the Ministry of Labour, this innovation aims to simplify urgent hiring procedures, accurately track working time, and reinforce legal safeguards for workers.
