Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dismissed Greece’s concerns regarding Turkey’s acquisition of F-35 fighter jets, calling them ‘absurd and meaningless.’ The comments came during a press interaction on his flight back from Azerbaijan. Erdogan emphasized that Turkey does not pose a threat to any country that does not endanger its security or interests. He reiterated that the procurement of F-35 aircraft is primarily for national defense and part of broader international cooperation efforts, including within NATO. The Turkish leader also mentioned discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the recent NATO Summit, expressing confidence that the United States would honor its agreement to deliver the advanced jets. Erdogan concluded by stating that Turkey remains committed to peace and stability in the region and globally.
