EOMS: A sharp increase in imports from coronavirus, 26 dead, 17 in ICU – Analyticalally the new epidemiological data

To 26 out of 17 deaths from our country increased, as announced on Thursday, July 18th, at the Weekly Epidemiological Surveillance Report for Respiratory Infections. According to the EOPI briefing, during the period 08 July – 14 July, 12 people from 6 compared to the previous record are intubated, as they were infected with coronavirus. Imports show an increasing trend. In summary at week 28/2024: ✓ The positiveness in all samples tested showed an increase compared to the previous week. The number of new imports was 669 and is increasing. The average weekly number of new imports over the previous four weeks was 464 and the number of imports in the respective week of 2023 was 226. The average weekly number of new intubations over the past four weeks was six and the number of intubations in the corresponding week of 2023 was two. The number of patients infected with COVID-19 intubated is 17. The average weekly number of deaths over the past four weeks was 17 and the number of deaths in the respective week of 2023 was 17. ✓ BA.2.86 with mutations F456L and R346T (new category of variants monitored from 4/6) seems to prevail over the last few weeks. Monitoring of viral load in urban sewage showed an increase in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 virus in seven of the ten areas checked.
