The National Organization for Medicines (EOF) has announced a nationwide ban on the retail sale, distribution, and supply to consumers of dried cannabis flower — regardless of its tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or other cannabinoid content. The measure follows the enactment of Law 5302/2026 (Government Gazette A’78), specifically Articles 43(2) and 46, which entered into immediate effect.
Scope of the Ban
The prohibition applies to all dried flower products derived from Cannabis sativa L. varieties, whether raw or processed. It covers any form of direct consumer access — including online sales, physical stores, or informal channels — across the entire Greek territory.
Enforcement and Compliance
The EOF urges full compliance from all economic operators active in the cannabis product market, emphasizing that the new regulatory framework is enforceable without delay. Authorities warn that on-site inspections will be carried out by competent regulatory bodies to verify adherence to the law and ensure market-wide implementation.
Clarification for Stakeholders
In its official announcement, the EOF reiterated that the ban is absolute and unconditional: it does not distinguish between low-THC or high-THC strains, nor does it exempt products labeled as ‘wellness’, ‘hemp’, or ‘CBD-rich’. Any dried floral material from Cannabis sativa L. falls under the restriction.
